I have been the owner of A Different Touch since 1992, and I have been a certified Bernina Technician for 25 years. I have been sewing since I was 9 and I love being creative and sharing my ideas with others. I work with the local schools, repairing their equipment and hopefully inspiring our future sewers. I am working on my first book.I love sewing and retirement is not in my future!

John joined the A Different Touch team in January, 2016 as our newest technician. John was previously employed with Ford Motor Company for 15 years. After the Norfolk Plant closed he worked as a Navy Contractor traveling the world supplying chemical protective gear for all Navy personnel. John has proven to be an excellent electronics and mechanical technician. Oh, and by the way, he's the boss's son.

I was a customer at A Different Touch for 4 years before retiring and coming to work for Doris 16 years ago. I have a brand new sewing studio, which enhances all my Bernina machines and undefined sergers, and I love my sanctuary!

I teach the guide classes for the Artista™ machines, the Bernina 580E™, 780E™ and 820/830E™.

I have been sewing since I was 9 years old and consider it to be a major part of my life. My current focuses are garment construction, quilting and embroidery, not necessarily in that order. I am a fabric collector and have a difficult time saying no to beautiful batik fabrics.

I've been fortunate to work for A Different Touch for 25 years and I do the majority of my sewing and embroidery on a Bernina 880, but give time to my 640E and 380 so they don't feel neglected. I also have a 1300DC serger and an 801 Sport.
I currently teach the embroidery guide classes and embroidery club.  I love the look on customers faces when they learn a new technique they've always wanted to try and discover that it is easy on their Bernina. I also truly believe that lime green is a neutral color!
